SPIC MACAY in collaboration with IQAC-LSR had the privilege to host a concert by Rudra Veena exponent, Ustaad Bahauddin Dagar on the morning of September 12th 2019. Ustaad Baha’ud’din Mohiuddin Dagar plays rudra veena with the dagarbani style and represents the 20th generation of Dagar lineage. In 2012, Ustaad Bahauddin Dagar was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the highest award for performing artists, conferred by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India’s National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama.
The concert at LSR was part of SPIC MACAY’S VIRASAT 2019 series. Virasat is one of the main cultural festivals of SPIC MACAY, comprising a mixture of all aspects of Indian Cultural Heritage. The occasion began with the addresses by Hon’ble Chairman of the college Shri Arun Bharat Ram and the welcome address by the Principal Dr. Suman Sharma. This was followed by the soulful performance of Ustaad Bahauddin Dagar. The event was attended by several members of the college community as well as esteemed guests. Music performance was widely appreciated by all present, and provided us a rich flavour of the beautiful arts and culture of this nation.
