National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of LSR, under the guidance of Captain Dr. Sarika Kalra, has consistently worked towards shaping disciplined, confident, and socially responsible individuals. The unit serves as a platform where academic learning is complemented by structured military training, leadership development, and active community engagement. In 2025–26, NCC LSR witnessed significant growth in participation, performance, and outreach. The year was marked by extensive involvement in national-level camps, strong representation in competitions, impactful social service initiatives, and the successful execution of institutional events, reinforcing the unit’s commitment to holistic development and nation-building.

Camps

The tenure was distinguished by wide-ranging participation in camps, each contributing uniquely to cadet development:

  • Scuba Diving Camp, Chanakyapuri. This camp introduced cadets to underwater training, enhancing their confidence, adaptability, and ability to operate in unfamiliar environments. It emphasized overcoming fear and developing mental composure.
  • Team Building and Leadership Camp (NIM Uttarkashi) – I & II. Conducted in a high-altitude environment, these camps focused on leadership under pressure, decision-making, and teamwork. Cadets were trained to navigate physically demanding conditions while working cohesively in teams.
  • Combined Annual Training Camps (CATC I, II, III). These camps formed the backbone of NCC training, covering drill, weapon handling, physical fitness, and theoretical knowledge. They served as the foundation for discipline and were crucial for further camp selections.
  • Independence Day Camp. During the camp, cadets prepared for ceremonial participation, reinforcing discipline, coordination, and pride in national service.
  • Chief Minister’s Rallies (I & II). Participation in these rallies showcased the unit’s drill precision and discipline at the state level, reflecting high standards of training.
  • Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Competition, Maharashtra. This competition enhanced focus, precision, and mental discipline, allowing cadets to represent the unit in a highly competitive environment.
  • Thal Sainik Camp (TSC). One of the most prestigious camps, TSC, provided hands-on exposure to field craft, firing, obstacle training, and map reading, strengthening practical military skills.
  • India–Bhutan Youth Friendship Camp. This international exchange fostered cultural understanding, diplomacy, and global exposure, broadening cadets’ perspectives beyond national boundaries.
  • Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Camps (Rourkela, Gopalpur, New Delhi). These camps promoted national integration through cultural exchange, helping cadets appreciate India’s diversity while building unity.
  • Rock Climbing (Pithoragarh), Sports Climbing (Lansdowne), and Trekking Expedition (Haldighati). These adventure activities tested physical endurance and mental resilience, encouraging cadets to push beyond their limits.
  • White Water Rafting Camp, Rishikesh. This activity emphasized teamwork, quick decision-making, and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Special National Integration Camp, Jaisalmer. Focused on cultural unity and national pride, this camp strengthened interpersonal connections across regions.
  • Advance Leadership Camp, Etawah. This camp refined leadership qualities, focusing on command, responsibility, and situational decision-making.
  • Idea and Innovation Camp, Vijayawada. Encouraged creative thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, expanding cadets’ skills beyond traditional training.
  • Chi Running Camp, New Delhi. Focused on endurance, fitness techniques, and injury prevention, promoting long-term physical well-being.
  • Military Hospital Attachment Camp, New Delhi. Provided exposure to medical services within defence systems, building awareness of discipline and coordination in critical environments.Prime Minister’s Rally & Republic Day Camp (RDC). These prestigious platforms represented the pinnacle of NCC achievement, where cadets demonstrated excellence in drill, cultural performances, and national representation.

Achievements and Recognition

The unit achieved significant recognition by securing the Second Runner-Up position for Best College Institution during the Board of Officers and ADG Visit (9 January 2025), reflecting excellence in overall performance, discipline, and organization. Individual accomplishments further highlighted the strength of NCC LSR. SGT Devika received the DG Recommendation, marking exceptional performance and dedication. SUO Mahak Yadav and JUO Lakshaki Gupta were honoured with the Young Achiever Award by the Delhi Government, recognizing their leadership and contribution. The unit also excelled in inter-college competitions, demonstrating versatility across drill, cultural, and creative domains, thereby establishing a strong competitive presence.

Major Activities

The unit conducted a nukkad natak on yoga awareness, promoting the importance of physical and mental well-being, along with celebrating International Yoga Day (21 June 2025). Under Swachhta Pakhwada (16-30 September 2025), a series of activities were conducted, including cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, waste segregation initiatives, creative competitions, and community engagement programmes aimed at promoting hygiene and environmental responsibility On World Rivers Day (28 September 2025), cadets engaged in awareness campaigns, discussions on conservation, and creative activities highlighting environmental concerns. Participation in the Vedanta Half Marathon (12 October 2025) promoted endurance and fitness.

The unit actively commemorated important national days such as Independence Day, Republic Day, and Kargil Vijay Diwas, fostering patriotism and collective responsibility. Events like Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Constitution Day, and Cyber Security Awareness Day contributed to civic awareness and informed citizenship. Under Mission LiFE, cadets participated in activities such as PPT presentations, quizzes, and tree plantation drives, encouraging sustainable living practices. The initiative on Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills enabled cadets to explore technology through creative mediums such as digital posters, comic strips, and short videos, while also reflecting on the role of AI in modern society. Creative expression was encouraged through poetry, essays, and creative writing competitions. Community outreach activities included visits to blind homes, orphanages, and old-age homes, fostering empathy, compassion, and social responsibility. A Civil Defence Demonstration further enhanced awareness regarding emergency preparedness, including hostile attack response and air raid protocols. The unit successfully hosted the Board of Officers and ADG Visit, where its discipline, organization, and performance were highly appreciated.

Veerangana 2026

The successful organization of Veerangana (17 February 2026), the annual fest of NCC-LSR, provided a platform for cadets to showcase their skills across multiple domains, encouraging healthy competition and team spirit. A notable addition this year was Veerangana Voices, an initiative aimed at encouraging open dialogue, expression, and awareness among cadets on relevant social and personal issues, thereby fostering a more inclusive and reflective environment. The speaker session by Brig. (Retd.) Akhilesh Bhargava on “The soldier mindset: Push yourself towards success” provided invaluable insights into discipline, resilience, and leadership, inspiring cadets to adopt a growth-oriented mindset.

The tenure 2025–26 has been marked by comprehensive development, extensive participation, and commendable achievements. NCC LSR continues to play a pivotal role in shaping disciplined, confident, and socially responsible individuals. With its continued focus on training, leadership, and service, the unit remains committed to contributing meaningfully to both institutional excellence and nation-building.
