Bionote

Deepika has been a faculty member in the Department of Elementary Education, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi since 2010. She is actively engaged in pre service and in-service teacher education especially in the area of social science  education. She has contributed to the corporate social life of the College in various capacities such as -Co-convenor, Scholarship & Freeships Committee; Co-convenor, Office of International Programmes; Co-convener, Garden Committee; Staff advisor to the Students’ Union for several years; and staff advisor to various societies such as Quiz society, Elocution society, VAPP, REACH, NSS, Prakriti etc. She is currently pursuing her doctoral research in the area of Equity and Social Justice in Education at The University of Western Ontario, Canada.

  • Engaged with faculty from the Government College of Education as a Resource Person at the WISCOMP workshop Gender Audits for Colleges of Education on January 31, 2020. The workshop was organized by Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP), New Delhi.
  • Group lead at the workshop titled ‘Educating for Social Change’ organized by WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace), New Delhi on August 29-30, 2016. Presented on ‘Dialogic Engagement: Schools and Non-Violent Alternatives for Social Change’ at the workshop.
  • Facilitated a three-day training/professional development for around 40 teachers at Adharshila– a school in a remote and rural area in Madhya Pradesh, India which serves under-privileged and first-generation students, on the theme ‘School and the Teacher’ as a resource person for Regional Resource Center for Elementary Education, University of Delhi in September 2015.
