Bionote

Jonaki Ghosh has been a faculty in the Dept. of Elementary Education, Lady Sri Ram College, University of Delhi since 2009 where she teaches courses related to mathematics education. Prior to joining LSR she taught mathematics at the Delhi Public School R K Puram for nearly 13 years. She regularly participates in national and international conferences by delivering lectures and conducting workshops. She has published articles in proceedings of conferences as well as national and international journals and has also authored books for school students. She is on the editorial panel of At Right Angles, a mathematics magazine published by the Azim Premji University and the Electronic Journal of Mathematics and Technology. She is on the international program committee of the Asian Technology Conference in Mathematics (ATCM) and on the program committee of several national conferences in mathematics education. She has also set up the Ramanujan Foundation for Initiatives in Mathematics Education which caters to professional development programmes and training for mathematics teachers at all levels of school education. Her workshops focus on innovative practices in teaching mathematics through hands – on activities and technology and emphasize on enhancing the content knowledge of teachers. She has helped to set up mathematics labs in various schools.

  • Was the Course Coordinator of an online certificate course on Mathematics Teaching in the online mode: Pedagogical Opportunities and Challenges organized as a part of the academic outreach initiative by internal Quality Assurance CelL, LSR for pre-service mathematics teachers from 12 th March to 2 nd April 2022. Twelve 90-minute sessions by various experts were organized as a part of the course in which 4 sessions were conducted by Dr. Jonaki Ghosh. 160 students of the Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Education Programs from across Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia attended the course.

  • Served as a member of the Programme Committee of the International Conference – Second Annual (Online) Conference on Mathematics Education in Times of the COVID-19 Pandemic organized by the Mathematics Teachers Association of India (MTA(I)) on 5th and 6th September 2020.
  • Served as a member of the Programme Committee of the International Conference – MTA Inaugural Conference organized by the Mathematics Teachers Association of India (MTA(I)) from 3rd to 5th January 2019.
  • Organised a National conference titled Innovations in Mathematics Education: Current Trends and Issues for mathematics teachers and teacher educators on 3rd and 4th March 2017. Was Convener of the conference and also conducted a workshop at the conference. The conference was funded by the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM). Received a grant of an amount of Rs 2,30,000 from NBHM for organizing the conference.

Have co-ordinated the review of the three mathematics courses – Core Mathematics (taught in 1st year), Logico Mathematics Education (taught in 3rd year) and Pedagogy of Mathematics (taught in 4th Year).
