At LSR, a premier educational institution of the University of Delhi, we believe in the exemplary mission of nurturing young women and equipping them to succeed in a rapidly changing, inter-dependent world. LSR was established by the late Sir Shri Ram in the memory of his wife in 1956. We are, and have always been, restless and tireless in fulfilling his vision of ‘More education. More education for Women. And more education for more women.’
Today, LSR is a name synonymous with leadership, scholarship and reinvention. Be it academics, extracurricular or co-curricular activities, LSR has proven itself time and again. We have been ranked among the top in country-wide surveys and have received an A++ grade in the second cycle of the NAAC accreditation process.
Our alumna and students continue to make their mark on global and domestic platforms, making us proud every day. Some prominent alumni of the college are Nobel laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Olympian Manu Bhaker, Vinita Bali, Naina Lal Kidwai, Usha Thorat, Anupriya Patel, Geeta Chandran, Justice Gita Mittal, Pinky Anand, Nidhi Razdan, to name a few.
The college is located on a 15-acre campus in South Delhi with ICT-enabled classrooms, large seminar halls, and laboratories. Sixteen vibrant courses of study are transacted, among which two are Professional courses (Elementary Education and Journalism). The campus of LSR is considered to be one of the greenest, most beautiful campus in Delhi University, winning us the prestigious Delhi University Green Cup since the last 28 years. In line with the sustainable development goals, we strive to adopt sustainable practices of Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle to minimize our carbon footprint. A critical learning resource in LSR is the digitized library with 1,50,000 books and subscriptions to several e-resources and print journals.
In line with the National Education Policy 2020, we follow a student-centric, innovative, inter-disciplinary and inclusive pedagogy. LSR fosters a research-based culture with various departments having research clubs and academic publications. The College has excellent results in University examinations. Our faculty members are valued for their academic expertise and professional competence. Outside the classroom, LSR offers students opportunities for holistic development through platforms like the Office of International Programs that has collaborations with international institutes of higher educationsuch as Science Po, Paris, Macquarie University (Australia), and the National University of Singapore, and over 30 active student societies, along with NSO, NCC and NSS. The placements offered at LSR are exemplary, witnessing the participation of industry stalwarts like McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Bank of America, Keplar Consulting, Hindustan Unilever, D.E. Shaw, etc.
Students encounter several outreach programmes that give them access to opportunities for creating positive social change. Equity is a primary value for the institution and LSR has a robust Freeship-Scholarship programme to ensure that lack of finances does not become a barrier to education for young women. REACH-LSR, the Equal Opportunity Cell of College, addresses the requirements of students coming from marginalized backgrounds and those with disability.
LSR has never been an institution that rests upon its past laurels and continues to aspire for brilliance.. The NEP 2020 has reinvigorated an emphasis on interdisciplinarity, academic flexibility, holistic learning, and Indian culture and history. As we roll out the fourth year of Undergraduate NEP and navigate through its complex maze, we shall not lose sight of our most compelling goal- to create an educational environment where we prepare the young women of today to be the trailblazers of tomorrow- whether in research, technology, leadership, or global advocacy. Let us continue to break barriers and go where no woman or man has gone before. It is my ardent hope and vision for the road ahead that we will continue to combine the best of our strengths and collectively build on our legacy of excellence and our own special brand of ‘magic’ at LSR, as we await history to be written again.

दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के एक प्रमुख शैक्षणिक संस्थान, एल.एस.आर में, हम युवा महिलाओं को पोषित करने और उन्हें तेज़ी से बदलती, परस्पर-निर्भर दुनिया में सफलता के लिए तैयार करने के विशिष्ट अभियान में कार्यरत हैं। एल.एस.आर की स्थापना स्वर्गीय सर श्री राम ने 1956 में अपनी पत्नी की स्मृति में की थी।उनका स्वप्न था “अधिक शिक्षा; महिलाओं के लिए अधिक शिक्षा; तथा अधिक महिलाओं के लिए और अधिक शिक्षा”। उनके इसी सपने को साकार करने के लिए यह महाविद्यालय हमेशा से ही संकल्पबद्ध रहा है।
आज, एलएसआर नेतृत्व, विद्वता और नवप्रवर्तन का पर्याय बन गया है। चाहे वह शैक्षणिक हो, पाठ्येतर गतिविधियाँ हों या सह-पाठ्यचर्या गतिविधियाँ, एल.एस.आर ने बार-बार खुद को साबित किया है। हमें देशव्यापी सर्वेक्षणों में शीर्ष स्थान मिला है और NAAC मान्यता प्रक्रिया के दूसरे चक्र में A++ ग्रेड प्राप्त हुआ है। हमारी पूर्व छात्राएँ वैश्विक और घरेलू मंचों पर अपनी छाप छोड़ती आ रही हैं, जिससे हमें हर दिन गर्व महसूस होता है। कॉलेज के कुछ प्रमुख पूर्व छात्रों में नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता आंग सान सू की, ओलंपियन मनु भाकर, विनीता बाली, नैना लाल किदवई, उषा थोराट, अनुप्रिया पटेल, गीता चंद्रन, न्यायमूर्ति गीता मित्तल, पिंकी आनंद, निधि राजदान आदि शामिल हैं।
यह कॉलेज दक्षिण दिल्ली में 15 एकड़ के परिसर में स्थित है, जिसमें सूचना एवं संचार प्रौद्योगिकी (आईसीटी) से सुसज्जित कक्षाएँ, विशाल सेमिनार हॉल और प्रयोगशालाएँ हैं। यहाँ सोलह जीवंत अध्ययन पाठ्यक्रम संचालित होते हैं, जिनमें से दो व्यावसायिक पाठ्यक्रम (प्राथमिक शिक्षा और पत्रकारिता) हैं।
एल.एस.आर का परिसर दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के सबसे हरे-भरे और सबसे सुंदर परिसरों में से एक माना जाता है। यही कारण है कि पिछले 28 वर्षों से हम दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय का प्रतिष्ठित “ग्रीन कप” जीत रहे हैं। सतत विकास के लक्ष्य के अनुरूप, हम अपने कार्बन उत्सर्जन को कम करने, पुनः उपयोग करने और पुनर्चक्रण की स्थायी प्रथाओं को अपनाने का प्रयास किया है।
एलएसआर का एक महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षण संसाधन है हमारा पुस्तकालय जहाँ डेढ़ लाख से भी ज़्यादा पुस्तकें उपलब्ध हैं और कई ई-संसाधनों और मुद्रित पत्रिकाओं की सदस्यता वाला डिजिटल पुस्तकालय भी मौजूद है।
राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 के अनुरूप, हम एक छात्र-केंद्रित, नवोन्मेषी, अंत:अनुशासनिक और समावेशी शिक्षा पद्धति का पालन कर रहे हैं। एल.एस.आर एक शोध-आधारित संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देने वाला कॉलेज है, जहाँ विभिन्न विभागों के शोध क्लब हैं और विभागों के अपने अकादमिक जर्नल प्रकाशित होते हैं।
विश्वविद्यालय परीक्षाओं में कॉलेज के परिणाम उत्कृष्ट रहे हैं। हमारे संकाय सदस्यों को उनकी शैक्षणिक विशेषज्ञता और व्यावसायिक क्षमता के लिए मान्यता प्राप्त है।
कक्षा के बाहर, एल.एस.आर की छात्राओं को -“अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रम कार्यालय “,जैसे प्लेटफार्म के माध्यम से समग्र विकास के अवसर प्रदान किए जाते हैं , जिसका सहयोग साइंस पो, पेरिस, मैक्वेरी विश्वविद्यालय (ऑस्ट्रेलिया) और सिंगापुर के राष्ट्रीय विश्वविद्यालय जैसे उच्च शिक्षा के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संस्थानों के साथ है। एन.एस.ओ, एन.सी.सी और एन.एस.एस के साथ साथ , 30 से अधिक सक्रिय छात्र समितियां छात्राओं के सर्वांगीण विकास के अनेक अवसर उपलब्ध करवाती हैं।
एलएसआर में प्रदान की जाने वाली प्लेसमेंट अति विशिष्ट और अनुकरणीय हैं, जिसमें मैकिन्से, बोस्टन कंसल्टिंग ग्रुप, बैंक ऑफ अमेरिका, केपलर कंसल्टिंग, हिंदुस्तान यूनिलीवर, डी.ई.शॉ आदि जैसे उद्योग के दिग्गजों की भागीदारी देखी जाती है।
छात्रों को कई आउटरीच कार्यक्रमों का लाभ मिलता है जो उन्हें सकारात्मक सामाजिक परिवर्तन लाने के अवसर प्रदान करते हैं।
समानता और सद्भाव , एल.इस.आर कॉलेज का प्राथमिक मूल्य है और संस्थान के पास एक मज़बूत फ्रीशिप-स्कॉलरशिप कार्यक्रम है जो यह सुनिश्चित करता है कि वित्तीय कमी युवा महिलाओं की शिक्षा में बाधा न बने। कॉलेज का समान अवसर प्रकोष्ठ और रीच जैसे कार्यक्रम ,हाशिए की पृष्ठभूमि से आने वाले छात्रों और दिव्यांग छात्रों की आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने की सतत कोशिश करते है।
एलएसआर कभी भी ऐसा संस्थान नहीं रहा है जो केवल अपनी पिछली उपलब्धियों पर आश्रित रहे। यह संस्थान तो निरंतर उत्कृष्टता की आकांक्षा रखता है। । एनईपी 2020 के अंतर्गत अंतःअनुशासनिकता , शैक्षणिक लचीलेपन, समग्र शिक्षा और भारतीय संस्कृति व इतिहास पर फिर से ज़ोर दिया गया है।
हम एन.ई.पी के स्नातक शिक्षण के चौथे वर्ष की शुरुआत कर रहे हैं और इसकी जटिलताओं से गुज़र रहे हैं। ऐसे में हमें अपने सबसे ज़रूरी लक्ष्य से नज़र नहीं हटानी है , जो कि है -एक ऐसा शैक्षिक वातावरण तैयार करना जहाँ हम आज की युवतियों को कल की पथप्रदर्शक बनने के लिए तैयार करें— चाहे वह शोध, तकनीक, अर्थशास्त्र,राजनीतिक नेतृत्व वैश्विक वकालत या कोई भी अन्य क्षेत्र क्यों न हो।हमारा प्रयास है बाधाओं को तोड़ते रहने का और वहाँ पहुँचने का जहाँ पहले कोई महिला या पुरुष नहीं गया।
आगे की राह के लिए मेरी प्रबल आशा और दृष्टि यही है कि हम अपनी सर्वश्रेष्ठ शक्तियों को संयोजित करते रहेंगे और एलएसआर में उत्कृष्टता की अपनी विरासत और अपने विशेष ‘जादू’ को सामूहिक रूप से आगे बढ़ाएँगे, क्योंकि हम इतिहास के फिर से लिखे जाने की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं।
