10th International Day of Yoga

On the 10th International Yoga Day, NSS-LSR organized a yoga workshop for its volunteers under the expert guidance of Yogacharya Kajal Chaudhary. This workshop, which included a single physical session, truly celebrated the significance of yoga in promoting global health, harmony, and peace, underscoring the interconnection of mind, body, and soul as a pathway to enlightenment.

The session commenced with a cordial welcome for Yogacharya Kajal Chaudhary by Principal Dr. Suman Sharma, Senior NSS Staff Advisor Dr. Jonaki Ghosh, and NSS UnionAdCom President and Cultural Secretary, Manvi Goel and Asmi Jain, respectively, at 8 a.m. in Exhibition Hall 1 of Lady Shri Ram College for Women. This was followed by an illuminating discourse on the importance of yoga, during which volunteers actively engaged and contributed their insights.

Kajal Chaudhary Ma’am then instructed the 23 eager attendees through various yoga asanas, including Tadasana, Katichakrasana, and Tiryaka Bhujangasana, among others. The session also incorporated a brief meditation period, allowing participants to introspect and take a moment for their mental wellbeing amidst the hustle-bustle of their busy lives.

The session concluded with a heartfelt thank-you note and a rejuvenating plant presented as a memento to Yogacharya Kajal and the instructors. Attendees collected refreshments post the session and expressed their enthusiasm for the yoga session and similar future initiatives. This workshop enabled participants to commence their day with positive energy, proving beneficial for revitalizing and maintaining mental peace and stability. In conclusion, the yoga workshop conducted by NSS-LSR was highly appreciated and proved to be a resounding success.

NSS-LSR also proudly participated in the University of Delhi’s International Day of Yoga celebrations, held at 6:00 a.m. in the Multipurpose Hall of the University of Delhi Sports Complex. This event, themed “Yoga for Self and Society,” featured distinguished guests such as Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, and Shri Manoj Tiwari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament. The event was presided over by Prof. Yogesh Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, with the esteemed Yoga Guru Shri Surakahit Goswami leading the session. NSS LSR sent five enthusiastic students to join this significant event, reflecting their commitment to the holistic development of self and society through the practice of yoga.

In commemoration of International Day of Yoga 2024, another online guided meditation session was held on Saturday, 22nd June 2024 at 9 am on Google meet. The session, facilitated by Dr. Pooja Kasera, was a profound journey into breathing exercises, deep relaxation techniques, and creative visualization. The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Tripti Bassi, co-convenor of NSS LSR, setting an inspiring tone. Dr. Kasera then delivered an enlightening discussion on the true essence of yoga and meditation, exploring their ancient origins and practical applications in students’ lives. She introduced various mudras, including Ganesh Mudra and Gyaan Mudra, alongside impactful meditation techniques such as Bhastrika. The session’s highlight was the creative visualization segment, where participants engaged with colors and affirmations to enhance their mental clarity and positivity. The session concluded with the chanting of mantras, the Shanti Path, and a prayer for universal good health. A vote of thanks by Dr. Tripti Bassi and Asmi Jain, the cultural secretary, wrapped up the well-received and successful event.
