On 2 April 2026, Prof. Kanika K. Ahuja, Principal, LSR, inaugurated two aerobins on campus. The installation of aerobins, to convert wet waste from the cafe, mess, and gardens into useful manure through a natural composting process, highlights the college’s commitment to strengthening sustainable practices. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Ms. Ameena Talwar, MCD Brand Ambassador, and team members from the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA). Members of the committee for Sustainability Practices on Campus, students, and staff members participated in the ceremony.
Prof. Ahuja highlighted the importance of embracing sustainability in our day-to-day practices to contribute to the circular economy. She also urged the students to spread awareness about waste segregation and maintain a green campus. With the motive of reducing municipal solid waste through source segregation and recycling using a sustainable approach, LSR joined the project “Segregation of Waste for Recycling and Treatment (S.O.R.T)”. This was formalised through an MOU with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) in association with the Swarn Lata Motherson Trust (SLMTT). In addition, the college organized an awareness workshop and capacity-building training session on solid waste management for students, academic staff, and housekeeping staff.
