in collaboration with IQAC-LSR
LSR’s Annual Diwali Mela, NOOR, celebrated in collaboration with IQAC-LSR on 19th October this year, encapsulated the beauty of 2500 people coming together to celebrate community and light.
The Diwali Mela is a celebration of our spirit of service, creativity and endeavour to ‘give back’. The brilliance of lights and the beauty of everything that surrounded us from the wonderful stalls to the smiles on the faces of children made the whole atmosphere beautiful and all the hard work that was put into making it successful worth it. The fervour was in fact already created prior to the event with all the NGOs flooding with events bringing out the excitement amongst them. The Mela catered to LSR students and the faculty, our NGO affiliations and all the people we work with.
The theme this year was Inara which means illumination, enlightenment, and to bring light into darkness. It is about staying strong and holding onto hope even when things get dreary and hard. Light shines the brightest in the darkest hour.
This year’s Noor was was dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of a visionary, the father of our nation – Mahatma Gandhi. Ms Vinita Srivastva , Executive Director, Heritage Division, Rail Museum and Ms Rakhi Gupta Bhandari , Resident Commissioner, Punjab took out time for our college and graced the occasion and inugurated the Mela
The cultural Programme of LSR Noor 2019 commenced with the singing performance by our students . Next we had, a dance performance by the brilliant children of one our own projects, Aarohan, which has been working in the area of education for underprivileged children and women. Thereafter, the children of ZDP (Zamurudpur Development Project) made the Mela brighter and more colourful by their energetic performance. ZDP is our in house project that works for our adopted village, Zamrudpur. The children of our in house teaching project, CDP, blessed the Mela with a delightful dance and singing performance.
Next, we had The Dramatics Society of LSR perform a short play for the children, about hope and joy in life. Lastly The FLASH MOB, choreographed and performed by our own students of NSS won all the hearts and appreciation. Noor 2019 was a great success in bringing out light, joy and excitement in all our lives.
