The Mukarji Memorial Debate, hosted by St. Stephen’s College, is India’s one of the most prestigious debate tournaments. At the 73rd edition of this tournament held from 9th to 11th April 2021, a team comprising LSR students and alumni won the rolling trophy. The team members were Arunima Subramaniyam (Batch of 2020), Apala Mandal (Batch of 2021) and Vibha Swaminathan (Batch of 2022). Apala Mandal also won the Best Speaker of the Grand Finals.
The entire contingent from LSR also performed exceedingly well – Ananya Nair, Riya Sharma and Saniya Rizwan (all from the Batch of 2022) made it to the Semi Finals, while a novice team comprising Alisha Varandani, Kanika Shokeen and Riddhi Mukherjee (from the batch of 2023) secured an open break qualification.
