Lady Shri Ram College for Women warmly welcomed the incoming batch of students at its Orientation Programme held on 28 July 2026 in the college auditorium. The event marked the beginning of a new academic journey, introducing students to the values, opportunities, and vibrant community that define the LSR experience.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Anusha Garg, the President of the Students’ Union, who greeted the new students and encouraged them to make the most of their years at the College. This was followed by the recitation of the College Prayer, creating an ambience of shared purpose.
The Principal, Prof. Kanika K. Ahuja, addressed the gathering and spoke eloquently about the unique ethos and enduring MAGIC (mindset, academic excellence, gendered lens, inclusion, competition and collaboration) of Lady Shri Ram College. She reflected on the many meanings that the acronym LSR embodies, including Lakshya (purpose), Sādhanā (dedication), Rachna (creation) and Leadership with Social Responsibility. Prof. Ahuja encouraged students to embrace the College’s commitment to academic excellence, inclusivity, innovation, and service, and use the various opportunities available through LSR’s community outreach initiatives, student societies, and the Office of International Programmes.
The Principal also felicitated well-known and highly successful alumni of the college – Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Chef Gauri, and International Booker Prize-winning author Ms. Geetanjali Shree. Sharing reflections from their own journeys at LSR, they spoke about the transformative role the College had played in shaping their personal and professional lives. They inspired the new students to remain curious, resilient, and committed to lifelong learning while making meaningful contributions to society. The programme included vibrant, captivating cultural performances by societies including the Western Music Society, Indian Music Society, Saaz, and the College Dance Society. Their performances showcased the rich artistic traditions and dynamic campus life that await new students at LSR, adding warmth and enthusiasm to the occasion.
The Orientation Programme successfully introduced the incoming batch to the College’s legacy of excellence, leadership, and social commitment, setting the stage for a rewarding and enriching academic journey. Department-specific orientations and a program for parents have also been organised to facilitate the new batch’s transition to LSR.
