Two-Day Professional Development Workshop

“CONNECT: Communication, Collaboration and Technology Workshop”: 2nd -3rd July, 2026
Organised by IQAC, LSR

Day 1: 2nd July, 2026

The first day of the CONNECT – Communication, Collaboration and Technology Workshop, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)-Lady Shri Ram College for Women, was held on 2 July 2026. The workshop was attended by 26 non-teaching staff members representing the Administration, Accounts, Library, Laboratories, and the Principal’s Office.

The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Monika Singh, Convenor, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), who warmly welcomed the participants and introduced the resource person, Mr Balaraj Hosamani, highlighting his expertise as System Programmer, Delhi University Computer Centre (DUCC) and his experience in digital technologies and workplace productivity tools.

The programme began with Session I: “Advanced Level Tools for Excel Users” (10:00 AM–11:30 AM), conducted by Mr. Balaraj Hosamani, System Programmer, Delhi University Computer Centre (DUCC). The session focused on strengthening participants’ practical Excel skills for efficient office management. Beginning with the fundamentals of Excel, the resource person demonstrated techniques for data entry automation, keyboard shortcuts, formulas for data entry and calculations, advanced formulas and functions, charts and data visualization, Sparklines, Maps, Slicers, importing data from text files into Excel, data representation, automated data refresh and updating, forecasting tools, and the use of Pivot Tables for data analysis and reporting. The session included practical demonstrations that enabled participants to understand how these features can streamline routine administrative tasks.

The second session, “AI Tools for Office Work” (11:45 AM–1:00 PM), was also conducted by Mr. Balaraj Hosamani. The session introduced participants to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing workplace productivity. Participants were familiarized with AI resources available through their University of Delhi official email IDs, including access to advanced features of Gemini. Demonstrations showcased the use of AI for data analysis, graph creation, drafting professional emails, generating pictorial representations, creating data tables, and preparing reports. The resource person also demonstrated AI-powered tools for developing PowerPoint presentations, generating videos and flashcards, and producing visual content using platforms such as Napkin AI and Gamma. Participants were introduced to Notebook LM as a valuable tool for working with large PDF files, generating summaries, and preparing progress reports. In addition, an online OCR conversion tool (online2pdf.com) was demonstrated for converting PDF documents into editable text, capable of processing files up to 100 pages. Practical guidance was provided on writing effective prompts, including the recommendation to start a new chat for each query to obtain more accurate, context-specific responses. Participants were also encouraged to use AI responsibly by critically evaluating its outputs and treating it as a decision-support tool rather than uncritically relying on it.

The sessions were interactive and application-oriented, encouraging participants to engage actively with the tools demonstrated. The workshop significantly enhanced participants’ digital competencies and provided practical knowledge that can be readily applied to improve efficiency and productivity in day-to-day administrative work. The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms Priyanka Sharma, IQAC Coordinator.
