Internal Assessement and Continuous Assessement of Papers Under UGCF-2022

The BA(Hons.)/BSc (Hons.)/BCom(Hons.) is a four-year undergraduate programme comprising eight semesters with an exit option available at the end of every academic year. The student must earn 132 credits (176 credits) in three years (four years), which is equivalent to earning 22 credits in each semester in the Honors program. Each credit is equivalent to 40 marks. In the Honors program, the students will study the following types of courses:
  • Discipline Specific Courses (DSC)       :   4 Credits
  • Discipline Specific Electives (DSE)      :   4 Credits
  • Generic Electives (GE)                           :    4 Credits
  • Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC)      :    2 Credits
  • Value Addition Courses (VAC)             :   2 Credits
  • Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC)  :   2 Credits
  • Environmental Studies (EVS)               :   2 Credits

In DSC, DSE and GE papers, the credit distribution is either 3 Lectures (3L) + 1 Tutorial (1T) or 3 Lectures (3L) + 1 Practical (1P).  Whereas in SEC, VAC, AEC, and EVS papers, the credit distribution is either 2 Lectures (2L) or 1 Lecture (1L) + 1 Tutorial (1T) or 1 Lecture (1L) + 1 Practical (1P) or 2 Practicals (2P).

In the BA Program, which is also a four-year undergraduate program, the student has to do two courses of their major discipline and one course of minor discipline, instead of 3 DSC papers in each semester.

The Internal Assessment is an integral part of the assessment scheme of the students under the Four-Year Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) – 2022.  The details can be accessed by clicking on the link – Internal Assessment and Continuous Assessment (IA_CA)

At the end of every semester, it is mandatory for each student to do the verification process of IA/CA(TU/PRAC) records of all the papers including DSC/GE/DSE/SEC/VAC/AEC/EVS in two stages. For details of the verification process, please click on the link  – Verification Process for IA and CA(TU_PRAC) records

Every student must read the document on “Improvement and Re-registration cases”  very carefully to understand the consequences of failing in any of the components, IA, CA(TU/PRAC) or end term theory examination(ETTE). Please note that according to EC Resolution No. 60-1/ (60-1-13) dated 03.02.2023, failing in IA/CA(TU/PRAC) in any paper would lead to improvement or re-registration in that paper. The re-registration implies that the student needs to repeat the paper and appear in both theory as well as CA(TU/PRAC), along with the IA component, if applicable. Hence, it is advised that every student should treat each component IA, CA(TU/PRAC) and ETTE of every paper with seriousness so that they perform satisfactorily in each of the component. For details, please click on the link  – Re-registration and Improvement
