Workshop on Gender Sensitisation and strengthening POSH

Internal Complaints Committee of Lady Shri Ram College for Women organised a workshop on ‘Gender Sensitisation and strengthening POSH’ for faculty and non-teaching staff on 18th September, 2025. The objective of the workshop was to foster a better understanding of gender related issues, promote inclusivity and equip all the stakeholders with knowledge and tools to prevent sexual harassment. The resource person for the workshop was Dr Poulami Pal, Program specialist, UN Women, India Office. Starting with decoding what is sexual harassment, the interactive session focussed on legal frameworks and preventive measures for the same. The resource person, highlighted the importance of respecting diversity, eliminating gender bias, and fostering a safe and equitable environment. The session covered key topics such as understanding gender roles, breaking stereotypes, handling unconscious bias, and the responsibilities of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). Case studies and real-life examples were discussed to enhance practical understanding. The session also focussed on gender responsive communication in the institutional contexts especially in the academic spaces and class room interactions. Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and activities (video clippings) that encouraged reflection on personal attitudes and workplace interactions. Overall, the workshop was highly informative and insightful. It not only clarified legal provisions of POSH but also emphasized the need for collective responsibility in ensuring safety and equality for all.
