The cleanliness drive was led by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Shama Norien Major. Eighteen volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive. They came prepared wearing gloves, caps, and carrying garbage bags and brooms to make a positive contribution to their surroundings. The proceedings began with the recitation of a solemn oath, reaffirming each participant’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness in their environment. This pledge set the tone for the activities that followed, inspiring everyone to work diligently towards the shared objective. The volunteers methodically cleaned the market area, collecting litter, trash, and discarded waste. Care was taken to ensure proper segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste to facilitate effective recycling and disposal. By the end of the drive, the noticeable transformation of the area underscored the value of collective action.
Gratitude was extended to all volunteers for their dedication and active participation. Their efforts not only contributed to a cleaner environment but also reinforced the importance of sustainable cleanliness practices within the community. The event came to a close with a promise to continue efforts towards keeping the nation clean and carrying forward the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
