The SPIC MACAY, LSR Chapter intends to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring young minds to imbibe the values embedded in it. Spic Macay-LSR Chapter volunteers participated in ANUBHAV-the international conclave of Spic Macay. Students attended the Diamond Jubilee flute concert of IIT Delhi performed by Pt. Volunteers from our Chapter welcomed Mr. Kiran Seth, the founder of SPIC MACAY in Delhi after he successfully completed his solo cycle yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The students interacted with Dr. Seth and his words inspired us to keep on the legacy of Spic Macay and keep striving to uphold the Indian culture and heritage. The society organized “GUFTAGU” to extend its warm welcome to freshers and used this opportunity to introduce them to the world of Indian culture. We invited students to fill in the outlines of three Indian art forms: Kalamkari, Mandala and Madhubani. They were also encouraged to express their feelings about starting a new chapter of their life. Guftagu enlightened student body about Indian art forms, sensitized them about Spic Macay and induced a feeling of belongingness in them. A heritage club has also been formed this year with its union executives. The society conducted interactive sessions and competitions to mark commemorative events such as a quiz competition on Tagore Jayanti, a photography competition on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and invited caricatures or any expression of art on Janmashtami.
