The Students’ Union under *Project Bahubhashi* had the honour of hosting Lady Shri Ram College alumna and National Award-winning multidisciplinary artist, Ms. Shilpika Bordoloi, for the screening of her acclaimed film Mau: The Spirit Dreams of Cheraw on Wednesday, 16 September 2025.
Through the screening, she walked us into a world where motherhood, memory, and cultural ties to ecology are inseparable. The film’s quiet choreography of hands, feet, and hair embodied both the ache of childbirth and the endurance of the spirit, reminding us that life and death exist as a single continuum.
Ms. Shilpika’s lived research urged us to walk with the bamboo, feel its pulse, and reclaim the stories that a globalised world too easily erases. Mau stands as a cultural reckoning, reminding us that nothing survives in isolation.
