LSR’S Annual Day Celebrations, 2025

Lady Shri Ram College for Women celebrated its Annual College Day with great aplomb on the 29th of April 2025. The spirit was festive and shone brightly in the beautiful décor on display near the college auditorium, which was the hub of the celebrations. The guest of honour for the morning function was acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer, vocalist and Padamshree awardee Ms. Geeta Chandran. With the elegant poise that comes naturally to a performer of her stature, Ms. Chandran spoke of her days as a student at LSR and of the need to preserve the beautiful art forms of India. She encouraged students to think outside the box and remain true to the values of the institution.

During the evening function, Acting Principal, Prof. Kanika Ahuja, delivered the Principal’s address and presented the exceptional accomplishments of the LSR community in the year gone by. These include the laurels won by Ms. Manu Bhaker, Ms. Rhythm Sangwan, and Ms. Maheshwari Chauhan at the Paris Olympics 2024. Prof. Ahuja also welcomed the chief guest of the evening, Mr. Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, a highly respected bureaucrat and former chief executive officer of NITI Aayog. Mr. Kant expressed his appreciation for LSR’s standing as a premier institute for higher education. He spoke of the myriad ways in which women contribute to the progress of the Indian nation in varied fields, which range from academics to technology, particularly AI. Shri Arun Bharat Ram, Chairman of the Governing Body of LSR, shared warm memories of visiting the LSR campus as a child with his grandfather, Lala Shri Ram. It was during those visits that he imbibed the value of furthering the cause of women’s education.

The college honoured its alumna Justice Indu Malhotra (Class of 1975) with the Distinguished Alumna award for her contributions to the Indian justice system. Ms. Shambhavi Choudhary (Class of 2019) was conferred the Promising Young Leader Award for her work on community empowerment and public advocacy. LSR also recognised the efforts of its staff members, including Prof. Priti Dhawan, Dr. Rina Kashyap, Ms. Mitali Mishra, and Dr. Ujjayani Ray, who completed 25 years of service. Great cheer and applause marked the prize distribution ceremony as the college awarded certificates to students who had performed exceptionally well in their academic and co-curricular pursuits. The evening concluded with colourful performances by LSR’s student societies, followed by high tea for the attendees.
