Juxtapose 2024

Juxtapose’24- Media: An Echoing Mosaic, the event spread across the two days- 20th & 21st of March 2024 was a media composition of a lifetime.

The Opening Ceremony of Juxtapose 2024 was an embodiment of grace, gratitude and media gusto. Dr. Vartika Nanda, Head of Department of Journalism, LSR’s riveting speech took everyone on a journey that reminded them of their passion for media education, that explained ‘Juxtapose’ and how it has captured the soul of the department.

The eventful day commenced with an exquisite classical dance performance by a pair of third-year students of the journalism department, Riya Upadhyaya and Ananya Nair. What followed it was an engaging and immensely stimulating panel discussion on the topic of “Artificial Intelligence Journalism Governance: The Future of Media and AI Technologies. The panelists of the day included Dr. Rachna Sharma, Associate Professor at IIMC; Mr. Nitin Mantri, CEO of AvianWe; Mr. Sandeep Nigam, Journalist and Writer; Ms. Mimansa Shekhar, Journalist and Editor; and Mr. Suraj Kumar, a film director.

Panel on the second day deliberated on the topic “Representation of Diversity in Media.” It was presided by an esteemed panel comprised of Ms. Sunaina Kumar, Mr. Lalit Kumar and Ms.Anubhuti Yadav. Ms. Nikita Ladda ma’am, a professor from LSR adeptly moderated the discussion, guiding the panelists through insightful conversations.

Captivating competitions attracted participants from various colleges to come and be a part of Juxtapose’24. The competitions spread across the 2 days included “Cinema Sangam” which quizzed the participants on their cinema roots. Then the next in line was “Headline Heist” that engaged participants in a thrilling murder mystery and treasure hunt experience. Competitions on the second day included “Bizarre Bulletin”, which required the various participating teams to create a news bulletin with a mysterious prompt that was shared to them 3 days prior to the competition. Subsequently, the teams needed to enact the news bulletin on the day of the event. Adding a commercial twist to the event with its mind boggling competition, “Battle Of Brands”, the competition involved participants locking horns with each other in teams, representing an already existing revenue-shark brand,its values and position in the market.

The closing ceremony held at the college’s auditorium served as a fitting conclusion to two days of insightful discussions, competitions, and valuable networking opportunities with students from across colleges. Towards the end, the student union addressed the gathering, with Hema Bhopati- the president of the department, Vidhi Kanojia- the general secretary, and Vaishnavi Pandey- the treasurer, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the faculty of the department, and further reflecting on their tenure with a mix of gratitude and surrealism. To add to the delight of the evening, an aftermovie of the academic meet was shown, much to the surprise of the entire department.
