Fifth Manohar Shyam Joshi Memorial Lecture in collaboration with IQAC- LSR

The Fifth Manohar Shyam Joshi lecture was organised in collaboration with IQAC- LSR on 8th August, 2019. This series of lectures celebrates the life and work of Shri Manohar Shyam Joshi (1933-2006), great Hindi writer, journalist and scriptwriter. During this life, he received many awards for his tremendous contribution to media, literature and journalism. These include the Sahitya Parishad Samman, Sharad Joshi Samman, Shikhar Samman, Delhi Hindi Academy Award and the 2005 Sahitya Akademi Award.

The speaker on this occasion was Dr. Purshottam Agarwal, a distinguished academician, researcher and public intellectual who advocates democratic values in the Indian political and cultural sphere. He has been invited as a key note speaker and resource person at academic conferences not only in India but across the globe. He was a British Academy Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Cambridge University and a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge University, United Kingdom in 2002. He has also served as a visiting professor at the El Colegio de Mexico (National College of Mexico, Mexico City) during May–July 2002. The talk delivered by Dr. Agarwal threw light on Shri Joshi’s acumen as an author, his approach to his work and his personality. Several faculty members and students of the LSR community were present on the occasion. The talk was followed by lunch for the attendees.
