Bionote

Pooja Singal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Elementary Education, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi, since the year 2010. She teaches courses related to Language Education such as Language Across the Curriculum, Teaching of English as a Second Language, Storytelling and Children’s Literature, Material Development for Language, Pedagogy of Language and Curriculum Studies in the department. She actively engages with teachers and teacher educators through workshops, consultancy work and professional development activities. She seeks opportunities to connect and interact with field practitioners through volunteering in different NGOs. She has contributed to the corporate social life of the college in various capacities, as Co-Convener of scholarship/freeship cell, Staff advisor to Dramatic society of the college, staff advisor to education related projects under NSS, Member of REACH and so on.

  • Provided consultancy for conceptualizing and finalizing curriculum of the courses Language Across the Curriculum and Pedagogy of Language (Year I & II) of the Diploma in Elementary Education Programme offered by Jamia Millia Islamia in March 2015 and January, 2016.
  • Member of the syllabus review committee for the courses Language Across the Curriculum, Teaching of English as a Second Language, Material Development (Language), Pedagogy of Language, Research Projects and Internship in the B.El.Ed Curriculum Review process in 2012-13 under the chairpersonship of Prof. Poonam Batra, Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi.

Community outreach Activities

  • As part of community extension activity, coordinated summer workshops with the help of students of B.El.Ed Department, LSR, at Delhi Public Library, Sarojini Nagar and Delhi Public Library, Chandni Chowk in the years 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019.  The workshop titled ‘Kitaab Lehariya’ focused on building the reading and creative writing capacity of children from the neighbouring areas of the libraries.
