Teacher’s Day Celebration at LSR 2026

Lady Shri Ram College for Women celebrated Teachers’ Day, honouring the dedication and lasting influence of its educators with gratitude and warmth.

The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt address by Principal, Dr. Kanika Ahuja, followed by an inspiring message from the Chief Guest and esteemed alumna, Hon’ble Justice Gita Mittal.

A highlight of the celebration was the inaugural presentation of the prestigious ‘Dr Ved Mittal Shreshth Guru Sammaan’ Award, instituted to honour exceptional educators of the College. The awardees, Prof. Smita Sahgal and Prof. Priti Sarin Dhawan, were felicitated by Chairman, Dr. Arun Bharat Ram, for their distinguished contributions to the teaching community. Reflecting on the significance of the Sammaan, Dr. Kanika Ahuja underscored how it recognises the quiet, everyday work of teachers, their presence in the classroom and their enduring role in shaping young minds, as truly Shreshth.

The celebration was enriched by a vibrant cultural programme. Soulful musical performances by the Indian Music Society and Saaz, the Instrumental Music Society, spirited presentations by the North Eastern Cell, and an energetic dance by the Dance Society brought the occasion to life. Projekt’s short film captured the spirit of the day, while a compelling theatrical performance by the Dramatics Society added further depth to the celebration.

The event served as a fitting tribute to the teachers whose mentorship, commitment, and wisdom continue to shape generations of students. As the celebrations drew to a close, the sentiment shared by the esteemed Chief Guest, Justice Gita Mittal, resonated deeply: “A teacher is one who gives, and gives without expectation of any return. She gives us knowledge but also culture, tradition and a way of seeing the world.”
