The Departments of Mathematics and Statistics, in collaboration with IQAC-LSR, organized a session titled “Actuarial Career Exploration Session” on 13 March 2026. The session was organized through the Society of Actuaries. The speakers were Mr. Geet Maurya (FSA, FRM), Indian Staff Actuary at the Society of Actuaries, and Mr. Arindam Mookherjee, Advisor in Research and Sustainability and Consultant with SOA India. They introduced students to the Society of Actuaries, its global presence, and the growing demand for actuarial professionals.
Further, they explained the scope of actuarial science, career prospects, and the differences between Life and General Insurance actuarial roles, while outlining the structured ASA and FSA qualification pathways. The speakers highlighted exam logistics in India, global recognition of SOA credentials, and available student discounts. The session showcased key recruiters such as Deloitte, EY, PwC, KPMG, Mercer, Milliman, and Swiss Re. A scholarship package for five participants, including exam fee waivers and study materials, was announced. The interactive session concluded with a Q&A, followed by felicitation of the speakers and a vote of thanks.
