Workshop – An Analytical study of Barriers and Enablers towards Implementation of NEP

Under the aegis of Dr Bharat Ram Research Grant Project titled “An Analytical study of Barriers and Enablers towards Implementation of NEP in Higher Educational Institutions”, the principal investigators Dr Jyoti Darbari and Dr Ujjayini Ray organised a workshop on 3rd April, 2025 aimed at simplifying the 4-year programme introduced under NEP, 2020 for students as well as faculty.

The key note talk was delivered by Prof K. Ratnabali, Dean, Academic Affairs, Delhi University on “Prospects and Possibilities of a 4-year Undergraduate Degree” with its proposed three tracks – Hons with Research, Hons with Project, Hons with Entrepreneurship, – with an emphasis on the first track. It was an extremely enlightening session in which the speaker discussed various scenarios in which a student would be awarded a minor degree, explained the distinction between research and research methodology, provided contexts for several projects that could be undertaken by students in the fourth year and addressed many concerns of the students and faculty. After the talk, the research team of the project shared findings of the survey with the students.

The survey was conducted in November 2024 on NEP implementation among students for assessing their expectations and the challenges they were facing. There was an overwhelming response for the workshop.
