Lady Shri Ram College is committed to maintaining an academic environment that is free of all forms of coercion that impede the academic freedom of any member of the community.
Ragging in any form is absolutely prohibited, both within the college premises and on the public transport system, and can lead to expulsion or rustication.
Ordinance XV-C. of Delhi University defines ragging as “any act, conduct or practice by which dominant power or status of senior students is brought to bear on students freshly enrolled or students who are in any way considered junior or inferior by other students and includes individual or collective acts or practices which:
- Involve physical assault or threat, use of physical force;
- Violate the status, dignity and honour of women students;
- Violate the status, dignity and honour of students belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes;
- Expose students to ridicule and contempt and affect their self esteem;
- Entail verbal abuse and aggression, indecent gestures and obscene behaviour.”
In case a student is found indulging in ragging, she will be dealt with according to the rules pertaining to student discipline as set down in Ordinance XV-C.
