The LSR unit of NCC offers considerable scope for stimulated and disciplined adventure. Enthusiasts can learn parachuting, horse riding, judo, civil defence techniques and participate in a number of training camps.
NCC was active and vibrant throughout the year. Some highlights of the year are presented below:
PROMISING DAY PARADE: With the college reopening, the NCC Orientation resulted in the induction of several new cadets into its fold. They were officially sworn in during the Independence Day Celebrations. NCC also had its annual march on 12th August, where it embarked on flag hoisting and had a cultural event on the occasion.
SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN: The LSR NCC participated in the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan organised by 4 Delhi girls Battalion in Safdurjung Enclave on 28th September 2017.
COMBINED ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP: The camp was held from 13th to 23rd June 2016 at the DGNCC parade ground, Delhi cantonment. 44 cadets from our college attended the camp. LSR came first in the group dance competition and reached the finals in the Kho-Kho match. Four cadets from LSR were selected for the Thal Sainik Camp and seven went for rifle firing.
HIMACHAL PRADESH TREKKING CAMP: Seven cadets from LSR College represented Delhi directorate at Him trek 2016 held from 27th June 2016 to 5th of July 2016. It was an enriching experience for all the cadets who explored new terrains.
ROCK CLIMBING TRAINING CAMP: It took place at SSB training centre in Pauri, Uttarakhand from 27/09/16 to 02/10/16. Rock climbing, Rappelling, Trekking, Cultural Programs and various activities were held during the camp. Three cadets of LSR were selected to represent Delhi Directorate at RCTC.
THAL SANIK CAMP: Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) is a 12 day camp conducted in Delhi every year in the late autumn in which cadets are selected from all of 17 directorates, and are sent to the TSC to represent their respective directorates in the various competitions such as Obstacle Course, Map Reading, Firing and Home Nursing etc. This year it was from 19 sept 2016 to 29 sept 2016 in which 4 cadets from Lady Shri Ram College for Women were part of pre TSC’s –and 3 of them successfully completed it.
CLOSING CEREMONY OF NCC NATIONAL GAMES 2016: The closing ceremony of the NCC National Games was held on 26th October 2016, in Parade Ground, witnessing the Defence Minister as the chief guest. Several events took place in the ceremony and 5 girls from our college participated in Aerobics.
YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME, VIETNAM: SUO Monika Banerjee represented India in the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) Vietnam 2016. The camp was held from 2 october 2016 to 13 october 2016.
AMAR JAWAN JYOTI 2016: Every year on the 4th Sunday of November, NCC Day is celebrated. AJJ is also conducted on the same day in which all regiment officers take part to pay tribute to martyr soldiers at India Gate. This year it happened on 26 November 2016 in which Cdt Pushpa Repaswal got the opportunity to do Wreath Piloting. This was for the first time in the history that 2 girls were selected as wreath Pilots.
COMBINED ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP: The camp was organized from 19th December to 28th December, 2016 in Safdarjung Enclave by 3DGBN. It witnessed the participation of around 180 CATC students and the ones who had successfully cleared cadre I and II of RDC. It consisted of a diverse crowd with students from a variety of colleges (including 14 students from LSR) all over Delhi and even Open University. It was a memorable experience for all those who were a part of it.
NIC GUNTUR: National Integration Camp- III was organised by 25 (A) Bn Guntur, Andhra Pradesh that held the premises of Acharya Naga Arjuna University from 10 January 2017 to 21 January 2017. Several cadets from LSR got the opportunity to represent Delhi Directrate.
REPUBLIC DAY CAMP, 2017: In January, NCC participated in the Republic Day by marching and unfurling the national flag in college.
INTER COLLEGE NCC COMPETITIONS: For the first time, LSR NCC participated in the Annual NCC fests across Delhi University in various competitions such as Drill Competition, Cultural competitions, Athletics, Photography, Quiz and Debate Competition. Participants won many awards.
VEERANGANA 2017: On 22nd of March 2017, the 2nd Annual NCC Fest of LSR, VEERANGANA 2017 was organised to celebrate strength, womanhood, brilliance and togetherness. The activities organised included Squad Drill, Quarter Guard, Treasure Hunt, Obstacle Race, Group Dance, Group Song, NCC Quiz, Section Attack, Aero modelling flying show, among others. Veerangana 2017 was indeed a learning experience and an amazing platform for showcasing their abilities and skills.
