The department works towards the health, fitness and wellbeing of the entire LSR community. Its multi disciplinary prominence is the main characteristic of the department.
The department has been successful in looking beyond the stereotype image of sports limited to the sports fields and mere matter of winning and loosing. The department organizes talks, workshops & Seminars to bring awareness amongst the students with special reference to wellness, fitness, sports injuries, sports nutrition and drug abuse in sports etc. It has successfully introduced a certificate course in sports journalism. It also engages with elementary education department to teach physical education course and with BA Programme for application course on Fitness, Aerobics and Gym Operations. The department invites eminent sports personalities and sports scientist to engage with students.
LSR sports have a very vibrant calendar. The most awaited events are the Annual cross country run and Dr. Bharat Ram Inter College Sports meets which witnesses the participation from over forty institutions. The college has fourteen sports teams and namely in following disciplines of sports the college participates, Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Air rifle shooting, Air pistol shooting, Swimming, Volleyball, Squash, Judo, Lawn tennis, Table Tennis, Artistic gymnastics, Rhythmic gymnastics, golf and equestrian. In addition regular yoga and aerobic classes are organized.
The college has a well equipped gym to cater to the needs of students looking for cardio-vascular workouts.

1. Fitness camp
A fitness camp was organized from 12th of August with a motive of restoring stamina and endurance of the students. The students trained under the guidance of Mr. Mahesh and Mr. Mohan. We also had Mr. Rahul Varghese, Founder and CEO of Running and Living Infotainment, coming to LSR and motivating our budding athletes. We also had a session on sports injuries by Dr. Ramakant. The last day of the fitness camp was an exclusive session by an expert of different games coming to LSR to share knowledge and their experiences. We had a galaxy of sports stars on our LSR campus.
2. LSR Annual Run
The department of physical education organized its LSR Annual Run on 26th of September 2014. The run was of 3.5 km. This year students ran for the cause ' I am the change
', enough said, enough done, time for women to change. Monica Joon, international athlete and an alumna of LSR was the guest of honor and flagged off the race. The run was also joined in by the vice-principal and other teaching and non teaching members of the LSR community. The run was not all about competing, it was more about spreading awareness of the cause.

1. Ayushi Gupta (Economics Hons. 3rd year) - Ayushi represented India in shooting in the 51st ISSF world championship held in Granada,Spain.
2. Meghna (English 3rd year) and Samartha (economics 3rd year) of table tennis -they won the gold medal at the north zone inter university in Dehradun. and top 4 in all India inter university.
3. Shweta Choudhary (alumna batch of 2007) -she won the bronze medal at the air pistol shooting event at the Asian games 2014 in Korea.
4. The basketball team of LSR has been declared the champion team at the Royals Basketball tournament 2014.
5. Three members of the lsr swimming team went to the all India inter university held at Jain International University, Bangalore 26-30 October, 2014.

•Vandita Dhariyal (Psychology 2nd year) - Gold in 4x100 medley relay, 4x100 freestyle relay(with new record), 4x200 freestyle relay Silver in 200 mt butterfly
•Ruhaab Khan (Psychology 1st year) - Gold in 4x100 freestyle relay, 4x200 freestyle relay, Silver in 200 mt backstroke
•Varsha (Political Science 1st year) -
6. Maheshwari (Philosophy 1st year) - she participated and came second at the Grand Prix and Junior World Cup 2014 at Italy. She stood at the 7th position in the Junior World
Championship at Finand. She also played the World championship in Spain and secured 14th position.

Dr. Bharat Ram Open Sports Meet
The Dr. Bharat Ram Open Sports Meet, our annual Sports festival has become one of the most important events in the calendar of Inter-College Sports engagement. And once again this year we were able to organize it successfully. It was held from 25 October 2012 to 27 October 2013. Nearly 60 institutions participated in this meet and have touched the highest participation ever. The various events at the Dr. Bharat Ram Open Sports meet were Athletics, Basket-Ball, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Judo, Volley-Ball, Chess, Shooting and Badminton in both men’s and women’s categories. Over the course of three days, we saw more 1000 athletes each day participating from various colleges of not only Delhi University but also from Jamia Millia Islamia, IIT Delhi, Amity university, Shiv Nadar University, Sikkim Manipal University and other colleges in NCR.
Annual Cross Country Run
The Annual Cross country run on 30th August 2013 started with a lot of excitement. The air was filled with energy and enthusiasm. This time Lady Shri Ram College collaborated with our alumna Ms. Shivani Wazir Pasrich for the cause of ‘Conservation of Tigers’. There was an active participation of nearly 700 students and teaching and non teaching staff joined in as well. The marathon began with our principal, Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath wishing everyone good luck, followed by a pledge taken by the students to protect the tiger and finally with a few rules and regulations and words of encouragement by Ms. Meenakshi Pahuja, Head of Physical Education Department.
The race was flagged off by our Chief Guest Ms. Shvani Wazir Pasrich. It took only a few minutes for the first few girls to complete the 3 k.m long run.
Aanchal Bhola came first for the third year running, Nimsha Thakur came second and Ruchi was third.
After the race finished and refreshments were over, we had an assembly session where the first twenty runners were awarded and also where we had Latika Nath, the only Ph.D holder in Tiger studies speaking to us about Tigers and their conservation. Arpana Kaur, another distinguished alumna of our college and a talented artist donated a painting depicting the present condition of animals. The program ended with an emotive film by Ms. Shvani Wazir Pasrich called “I AM THE TIGER”. The annual cross country run was graced by the presence of our Principal, Vice Principal and Ms. Meenakshi Pahuja who were our pillars of support and ensured that the event was a grand success.
The swimming team of Lady Shri Ram college has won many accolades.
The team consists of seven members, Vasundhara Puri(Captain),Vasantika Handa and Abheera Talwar(Vice captain),Nikhat Pannu,Shefali,Vandita Dhariyal and Divya Satija and is coached by Mr. Swapan Das. They are mentored by our very own, Ms. Meenakshi Pahuja.
This year’s result was exceptional with Vasundhara Pur winning three Gold medals (50,100 & 200 metres butterfly) in the Delhi State Swimming Meet, 2013-14. The team also won the team championship in the Inter College Swimming Meet, 2013-14, with Vandita Dhariyal coming out with flying colours, winning six golds and breaking four meet records. The relay team, consisting of Vasundhara, Vasantika, Vandita and Shefali, also broke the meet record in the 4x100 metres medley relay. Vandita who is the new entry in the team performed exceptionally well breaking four records and winning seven gold medals. She is an International swimmer and has represented the country seven times and has won three medals for the country.
Vasundhara Puri gave a spectacular performance in the Delhi state aquatic meet, winning three golds in the butterfly events. Vasundhara and Vandita represented Delhi University and returned victorious. They won One gold and Two Silver medals in the relay. Vandita won four Gold medals individually as well. The team shows great talent and teamwork.
The table tennis team led by Samartha Prusty, includes Meghna Kakaria, Malvika Gupta ,Ekta Rawat, Nikita Khedia and Shruti Gulati. The team has won the prestigious Delhi University Inter College Table Tennis Tournament 2013. All the team members have played a crucial role in this achievement. The team expresses its sincere gratitude and regards to Mr. Anand Prakash(coach) for all the achievement. Special mention should be made of Samartha who has made our college proud by performing exceptionally well. She was awarded the Best player by the press club of ODISHA. She also won the Gold medal in All India Inter University North zone.
The Volleyball team has made us proud as well by winning the IIT Delhi Championship. Harshita Joon was awarded the Best Player.
L.S.R has an extremely hectic sports calendar. The year commences with an arduous fitness camp in August. The 15 day fitness camp is organised with a motive of restoring stamina and endurance of the students. The fitness camp witnesses extensive and unrestricted participation from sports quota as well as enthusiastic general students. The students are very fortunate to train under the guidance of extremely proficient and adept coaches like Mr Pankaj Tyagi and Mr. Mahesh. In the 2010 session of the fitness camp ,it was our esteemed opportunity that a highly revered athlete-Mr Amit Khanna could assist the aforementioned coaches. The fitness camp proves to be very helpful in refining running skills, rebuild the vigor, restoring fitness and rejuvenate the students. It provides the students with a tiring yet engaging workout.
